2017 World Anesthesia Day : October 16

Dear Colleague,

This World Anaesthesia Day (Monday 16th October 2017) the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists is running a campaign called Count Me In! and we would like to invite you to show your support.

What is Count Me In?

Count Me In! is an initiative to unite anaesthesia providers on World Anaesthesia Day and focus on raising awareness and support for scaling-up “human resources for anaesthesia”.

The WFSA’s recently launched Global Anaesthesia Workforce Map, created by surveying anaesthesia providers around the world, highlights the anaesthesia workforce shortage crisis. Using current population data, more than 136,000 physician anaesthesia providers are needed today to achieve a minimum density of 5 per 100,000 population in all countries.

This World Anaesthesia Day the WFSA would like you to count yourself among those providing life saving anaesthesia, and share your support for the scale-up of the anaesthesia workforce.

Who will participate on the day

We would like as many people around the world as possible to participate in the campaign including:

WFSA Member Societies, Anaesthesiologists, Surgeons, Obstetricians, Anaesthesia providers, Nurses, Theatre staff, Industry, Government, NGOs

The best campaigns are those in which thousands of people from around the world join together. We want tens of thousands of healthcare workers across the globe to join us on the day.

Sharing a sense of pride in our profession

We hope that the annual WFSA World Anaesthesia Day campaigns create a greater sense of pride among anaesthesiologists, uniting us to make anaesthesia safer.

The campaign will be active between Sunday 15th and Tuesday 17th October to allow maximum participation.

Very best wishes,

Niki O’Brien
